Once he has internet, he needs a streaming device or television. A Smart TV works well, or he can buy a Roku box, Chromecast, or similar. These streaming devices are usually well under $50. The streaming device or smart TV connects to his internet and provides him with hundreds of free shows and movies. Here are six classic TV shows he could be streaming for free.
The Addams Family
The Addams Family started as a cartoon in the 1930s and became a live-action show in the 1960s. It focused on the lives of the unusual Addams family, a loving, tight-knit family with unusual traits and pets.
All in the Family
Norman Lear’s popular television show about the Bunker family tackled tough subjects. You had the very conservative Archie, his tries-to-please-everyone Edith, his daughter, and the man she married referred to by Archie as “Meathead.” From draft dodging to Archie’s frustrations with feminism, the series took on many important topics then and now.
Bewitched
Bewitched starred Elizabeth Montgomery as a housewife trying hard to not rely on her powers as a witch. Her relationship with her mortal husband was strong, and his relationship with his mother-in-law often led to plenty of laughs.
Bonanza
The western theme of Bonanza drew plenty of viewers over its 14-year run. It told the story of the Cartwright family in the 1860s. The family is led to Lorne Greene and his three sons all living on a spacious ranch on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Most of the stories focus on the family’s relationships with each other and the community around them.
The Outer Limits
The Outer Limits was a show full of short stories revolving around science fiction themes. It was similar to The Twilight Zone, only the stories were always Sci-Fi stories rather than paranormal or fantasy.
The Saint
Roger Moore, known best as James Bond, starred in The Saint. The mystery/spy show ran for much of the 1960s in the U.K., and in the U.S. starting in 1966. Moore’s character Simon Templar helped those who needed help and couldn’t get it from traditional agencies. While some considered Templar to be a lawbreaker, those he helped considered him a saint.
